Yesterday was November 7, 2026.
Ninety-six years ago, my sister was born.
Sadly, she was born dead...stillborn in the Oswego, New York Hospital.
A family tragedy became a family secret.
It was never discussed...at least not with me.
Her existence was not known to me until I received a copy of her birth certificate from the City of Oswego department of records.
To me, this explains why my brothers and I were born in nearby Syracuse.
Her death and more important the lack of her prescnce while I was growing up and in my life beyond is immeasurable.
Some years ago, I visited the Jewish cemetery in Oswego to look for my sister.
She had no name and no burial marker.
But, she existed.
Happy birthday, sister.
